Ella Steiger

Research Technician

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ella Steiger has been pursuing a research career studying the urban ecology of New York city—with a recent focus on disease ecology—both through her undergraduate studies and since receiving her Environmental Science degree from Barnard College in 2019. Her degree and select prior research has focused on nutrient cycling in the Gulf of Mexico and evolution, virology, and genomics of early prokaryotic organisms. Currently, Ella works as a Research Technician in the Diuk-Wasser laboratory assisting with ongoing research projects examining the spacial, ecological, environmental, and social drivers implicated in the spread of Borrelia burgdorferi. Additionally, Ella is deeply involved in the planning and organization of summer field research.
